Flavor of Georgia
Surprising even myself, I entered the UGA Flavor of Georgia food product contest. With nothing to prove and following my own journey, submitting wasn’t even on my radar; yet I felt led to submit.
Since our newsletters are always written a little early, I can tell you that we didn’t make the finals, however our top 2 products, spicy cheese wafers and pecan salty shortbread scored in the top 50 out of 180 products submitted. We were invited to participate Savor the State: Flavor of GA Tasting Experience. Entries were evaluated on their Georgia theme, commercial appeal, taste, innovation, and market potential. I am looking forward to sharing our story and products with new friends. We are blessed and excited to open this door to see what might be revealed.
Where in the World is Cindy’s Bits and Pieces?
JP Travels, Jackson, GA is part of one of the largest companies that our products are found in. Established in 1968, Bill Jones, started his small business venture. Today, Jones Petroleum is a collection of grocery stores and fast-food chains all over Georgia and a few in AL and SC. The chains include Burger King, Piggly Wiggly, Dunkin, Subway and Ace Hardware.
JP, Jackson, GA is a stop for many travelers headed to Atlanta. They have exceptionally clean restrooms and delicious eateries all in one place. The gift shop is comparable to some of the finest, making last minute shopping a delight!! While there are many things to love about JP Travels, the large Georgia Grown section stands out the most. There is a vast display of small Georgia Grown
business products to select from. It is evident that the growth of JP Travels has not caused their owners to forget their roots and small beginnings. In fact, just the opposite. The Georgia Grown section is highly visible upon entry and located in a high traffic flow area. Our products were welcomed at this location beginning in 2019. JP Travel carries large and small sizes of our number one product, Spicy Cheese Wafer, enriched with pecans from South Georgia Farmers. We are humbled and grateful to be a very small part of this vast and fast-growing company.
