My help comes from the Lord, the maker of Heaven and Earth Psalm 121: 12
This month marks the 12th birthday of our small business. I thought I should share a little back story for our new followers. Looking back, the first 6 years of this side hustle was about developing recipes, building a brand and designing systems. Those years were filled with juggling a day job, acquiring permits and licenses and peddling our products somewhere every weekend in every imaginable kind of weather. Looking back, I am grateful for those formative years of slow growth that helped me learn the “business language”, perfect my own unique techniques and recipes, grow a strong group of forever followers, and strengthen my resiliency muscle for the future.
Then came 2020, the year of Covid. Everyone’s world was rocked. Yet, our business began to grow due to my deciding not to return to work and going full time as an entrepreneur. Everyone wanted to be outside to shop and support local! With David’s retirement not long after, his help propelled us into a chance for success! While I call him a partner in the business, he still calls himself cheap labor. No matter the title I could not imagine doing this on my own at this point in the journey.
In this 12th year we find ourselves in stores across the US. We try to keep our retail page current on our website with the most consistent retail partners (approximately 30). We are doing fewer shows (6 in 2026), more tastings/meet the maker events and happily filling your orders online!
Like most of us, I tend to show only the sunny side of our business. Perhaps we should all be a little more transparent sometimes. I was asked recently from a new upstart partner, how many times did I almost give up when getting up and running? My answer was that sometimes, I still do. Every new step has its own challenges! Each time I encounter one, I remember how God has blessed me in the past and how he has brought me through difficult times. Then, I do the next right thing. Sometimes that simply means that I bake the next product. I remind myself that if it were easy, everyone would be doing it. The larger we grow, the smaller I realize we are and I am happy to be wherever God places me. Thank you for your support along the journey.
